    My Semi

One of the hobbies most of my friends like to do is build model rocket cars. Last year we got together and raced them. This year we are doing the same but more organized. We are running two classes: full custom where you make your chassis and everything is your own design and diciest where you take a die cast car and convert it to accept a model rocket engine. This is the build thread of the years die cast entry.

This is how it started life, as a tractor trail die cast model.

It came out of the box damaged though but thats no biggy becasue I would of had to "break" it in a similar way

It also came with a trail, but this will be useless for my purposes

Just for referebce this was my last years entry

ended up being the best of the bunch

This is my planned ground clearance that I have for it

I also bought some nice dragster wheels for the front as you can see.

I then mounted my rear axle in its new position

after this I mocked up my body and trimmed it as necessary

I soon realized that the fenders didn't look quite right, so I trimmed them down a bit

I also strengthened the rear up a bit so there is no chance of it falling out

I would have went with dragster wheels in the back, if its rocket powered, rolling resistance is the only thing you have to overcome besides weight, unless it goes over 50mph, then aerodynamics aswell.

I would go with the same wheels front and back. it wont look right but it will be faster.

also i dont know if they check for it, but graphite grease, its like a powder type thing, they use them on the pine wood cars to make the wheels roll smoother.
